I am so glad to see the push back from "We the People" too. That and the letters and phone lines burning up at least tells them how we feel even though it might not make a damn bit of difference in how they vote...it seems they are in it for themselves and not their constituents. Thanks for writing, SPD.

I replied about the "Gone" on your site.

No, you're right, it was a mental "slash." I agree that shouting never helps anyone, Steve, but my feeling of patriotism comes from "We the People" rising up to fight something that is wrong instead of sitting in their living rooms and letting others do the battle for them. I'm proud of my fellow Americans regardless of party. They are angry and rightfully so. They've been shut out of decision making for so long because Congress tends to pay more attention to special interests.
Check into that 40 million as it is inaccurate. 20 million can afford to buy it, according to a study by former CBO Director June O’Neill. Most of the other 27 million are single and under 35, with as many as a third illegal aliens. When it’s all whittled down, as few as 12 million are unable to buy insurance — less than 4% of a population of 305 million. For this we need to nationalize 17% of our nation’s $14 trillion economy and change the current care that 89% like?
And there have been many alternatives suggested. The outrage comes from the Democrat's single-minded need to control and not consider alternative plans. Why? Because alternatives like health-care savings plan or tax cuts (both suggested by Conservatives) would take the control and money out of government hands and put it back where it belongs---into the taxpayer's hands.

Is that really what you said after 9/11? "“Don’t you DARE harm/socialize my country”. Was that a mental "slash" or a verbalized "slash"? And did you think that Al Qaeda's first and foremost goal was to socialize the nation?

That's irrelevant, of course, I'm just being picky. Forgive my smarminess.

What's not being picky, however, is the fact that all these objections to health care reform seem to reject reform as a premise. Do you really think that the healthcare system is so perfect and that the 40 million people who can't afford (or don't have, for another reason) access to it are so insignificant that we should just reject any kind of reform? I'm going to assume that's not the case. I think these town hall meetings are an opportunity for people to present an alternative to current plans. Shouting people down never solved anything. It simply stops progress, in whatever shape or form, whatever the political source of progress, from happening, which isn't what any rational person wants. This applies to both liberals and conservatives. If you can't have a civil discussion in a forum that is specifically designed for it (i.e. a town hall), then you shouldn't be there.
